la vie en rose

The sun actually woke me up today (well, that and my dog punching me in the face in his sleep), and amidst the the miles of clean white linen and a plethora of plush white pillows, I felt like I was waking up in a prestigious hotel in ol' Paris (pair-ee). I recently transformed my brother's old room (which was serving as an exercise/watch tv/sit on the ground/stare-out-the-window-and-contemplate-your-existence  room) into the location for my next fun photoshoot with Kiki, and decided I loved it so much that I would spend the rest of the day and night laying in the covers watching Netflix and flipping through my new Rookie: Yearbook One!! The whole *~ambience~* gave me a new perspective of November, and in this epiphany came one word: "fudge". So I went and got some fudge and continued my November-spiration which is all about...try and guess...because I already told you...it's not fudge...even though it should be...it's ol' Pair-ee! 1950's/60's Paris, specifically. 1950's/60's Paris fashion/music/atmosphere, if we're being extra specific. Fur coats, pea coats, trench coats, coat ensembles, gloves, fancy hats, An Education, cat eyes, little purses, dainty shoes, Edith Piaf, Edie Sedgwick's glamour, champagne, I could go on.... The whole era is so romantic and fun and glamorous and exciting and I figured November needed a little bit of an ego boost. You're welcome, November.

Little Edie, Rosamund Pike and Carey Mulligan in "An Education", Sienna Miller as Edie Sedgwick in "Factory Girl", Sam and Suzy in "Moonrise Kingdom", Edith Piaf, still from "Amelie", Carey Mulligan in "An Education", the women of Mad Men, vintage photograph, girls in fur coats, girls in pea coats.

Here is a little bit on musical inspiration. Au revoir! (<--- so clever and cute)

october roundup

I always have issues with titles. This one sounds like a ghost-cowboy-adventure. So, to clarify: this is not about ghost cowboy adventures. This is about me not accepting the fact that my favorite time of year is over. And I realize if I keep this going any longer, I'll really start to annoy everyone around me more than usual. SOOOO this is my last Halloween-related post. I promise (maybe). Here's a few photos of me in various costumes with various people also in various costumes at various times of this month.
Freddy and Lydia
Unicorn, Lydia, Freddy and Alice
A glamour ghoul and a mermaid
Wednesday on a Wednesday
A spooky Halloween dinner
Half Sugar-Skull, Wednesday, Pugsley, Indian

WOW!!!! THAT WAS SO EXCITING!!! Hope you all had a great Hallow's Eve and are immediately preparing for the Holiday season ahead because what else would you be doing with your time. Since I usually like to ignore November and pretend it doesn't exist, I decided to think positively and just pretend it's an extra long December!...Which is kind of depressing as well now that I think about it...Okay it seems we're at an impasse. I'm just going to start my Christmas playlist now.

black velvet

Fading hand, haunted fashion, deliciously spooky candy, a last minute trip to the pumpkin patch, late night carvings, homemade pumpkin seeds, wilting roses (sry Mary)

The haunting hour is close at hand and November begins to breathe its icy breath along our slender necks; cradling your fragile face as it whispers, "I'm the most boring month of the year."

PLEASE OCTOBER DON'T EVER END!! If November had a name (other than ummm November) it'd be STUPID!!!! Hope you all enjoyed your spooky autumn adventures as we count down T-MINUS 1 DAY until the big day! That sounds like I'm talking about my wedding or something. I meant Halloween, for those of you who thought I meant my wedding. Even though I'm sure everyone has already celebrated their Hallow's Eve this past "Halloweekend", I'm still going strong with a trip to a haunted house and graveyard eagerly awaiting my arrival. Happy hauntings!!!

ghostbustin'

Maybe it's the T3's, maybe it's the Halloween madness in the air, maybe I have too much time on my hands WHO KNOWS!!! Whatever it was though, made me make a video compiled of clips found on my mom's computer of me just doing what I do best. So this one goes out to all those people sitting around, intensely pondering what a Day in the Life of Haley would be like and whether or not I have a fantastic cat sweater (the answer is yes, obviously). I know you're out there.
Now sit back, relax, take a deep breath, lean towards your computer, shut it off, take a match and light it on fire, open a window and THROW IT OUT AND WATCH AS IT SMASHES INTO TINY BLAZING CHIPS (ha ha microchips), and NEVER watch this video.
Who ya gonna call? My therapist.

dead man's bones

I don't know about you guys, but there are questions that I ask myself everyday, such as: "What is the meaning of life?", "Is someone reading my mind right now?", "What is the appropriate amount of days to go without showering (a friend was wondering)", "Why am I so good looking?" and, "Can Ryan Gosling get any COOLER???". The answer to all of these questions is, yes. That doesn't make sense. Only the last one. Okay, let me clarify. The answer to only one of these questions, this being the last question, is yes. **The answers to the rest of the questions are most-likely: pizza, probably Ryan Gosling, sorry, and what**. Contrary to popular belief, it IS humanly possible for someone that life threateningly amazing to be even MORE amazing. But, HOW you ask?? Well, by teaming up with band member (who is equally as cool) Zach Shields and creepy choir children dressed as ghosts, ghouls and skeletons, to create a spectacularly eerie and catchy Halloween musical experience called "Dead Man's Bones", of course!
Man, the things I'd do to be that toilet paper-fied mummy standing in such close vicinity to greatness
For the past couple years since I stumbled upon this magical potion of musical Halloween themed proportions, the album has been my October theme. Children singing, echoing and reverb x3098634, creepy lyrics about zombies and bones I could only dream up, Ryan Gosling's "Blue Valentine"-ukulele-singing-voice... it doesn't get much more fantastic than that.
Here is a video of them playing live in a graveyard OH MY GOD.

So if you're looking for some Halloween tunes to get you into the spirit, here's a playlist of my favorite tunes by them! Jump in the car with a friend (or two if you have more than that!!) and drive down a deserted road blasting "Pa-Pa-Power", or go for a crisp October walk through the forest listening to "Werewolf Heart".

we're here because we're here

I just did something very bad. This bad thing was going into the Tumblr search bar and typing in: "vintage halloween". The results I yielded were both awesome/nightmare inducing. I encourage you all to do this bad thing so we can have nightmares together.
Listen to this as you scroll through these photos of tiny children casually posing in the most terrifying, innocent Halloween costumes of yesteryear.
